Falls Learning Academy
Newton Falls Exempted Village School District acknowledges that the face of public education has evolved due to
the global pandemic. In consideration of unique situations throughout our district, the following guidelines will be in
place for remote learning through our Falls Learning Academy in partnership with EDMENTUM (grades 6-12) or Jefferson County VLA (grades K-5). Any parent who enrolls their child(ren) in Newton Falls Learning Academy agrees to abide by the following terms and conditions:
the global pandemic. In consideration of unique situations throughout our district, the following guidelines will be in
place for remote learning through our Falls Learning Academy in partnership with EDMENTUM (grades 6-12) or Jefferson County VLA (grades K-5). Any parent who enrolls their child(ren) in Newton Falls Learning Academy agrees to abide by the following terms and conditions:
- Enrollment in Falls Learning Academy will be contingent upon previously demonstrated success with remote
learning and all applicants will be carefully considered on a case-by-case basis.
- School counselors must be notified via phone or email by Monday, August 15th, of the school year, of a parent's
decision to enroll their child in Falls Learning Academy for remote learning
- Students enrolling in Falls Learning Academy will not have the option of returning to in-person learning
during the CURRENT school year
- Students who begin the school year in-person but decide to go remote will remain remote through
Falls Learning Academy for the duration of the school year
- Students who begin the school year in-person but decide to go remote will remain remote through
- Chromebooks will be provided to all students; however, families of remote students are responsible for
providing adequate access to the internet (hotspots will not be provided).
- All remote classes will be completed using the EDMENTUM online platform
- No live teacher or 1-on1 Zoom sessions
- If Newton Falls School District would go remote, Falls Learning Academy students will still remain
with their EDMENTUM courses.
- No live teacher or 1-on1 Zoom sessions
- Attendance, grades, and participation will be monitored and reported by EDMENTUM staff; Newton Falls
School counselors will receive regular reports and updates from Edmentum regarding students'
participation, completion, and attendance and will notify the building principal and/or parents accordingly if
there are concerns.
- All remote students must still abide by attendance requirements outlined in House Bill 410 and will be
subject to all legal implications of House Bill 410 thereof
- Attendance requirement: 36 weeks; 910 hours; 25.2 hours per week
- Attendance requirement: 36 weeks; 910 hours; 25.2 hours per week
- Courses taken through EDMENTUM are not eligible for NCAA accreditation for collegiate eligibility.
