Welcome Mr. Johansson!

Newton Falls Welcomes New Superintendent Andreas Johansson

Newton Falls, OH, July 15, 2024 – The Newton Falls Exempted Village Schools is excited to announce the appointment of Andreas Johansson as the new Superintendent, effective August 1, 2024. With over a decade of central office experience and a strong academic background, Mr. Johansson brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for educational excellence to our district.

Mr. Johansson is currently completing his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership at Kent State University and holds a 5-Year Professional Superintendent License. His educational journey is marked by a Master of Arts in Teaching from Kent State University and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations. Additionally, he is a certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and a Google Certified Trainer.

Throughout his career, Mr. Johansson has demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic vision. Most recently, he served as the Director of Operations for Streetsboro City Schools, where he oversaw technology integration, transportation, facilities and food service, and campus safety. He successfully led initiatives such as a district-wide Google migration, a 1:1 Chromebook program, and numerous capital projects that have significantly improved operational efficiency and student experiences.

"I am truly honored and excited to join the Newton Falls Exempted Village Schools as Superintendent," said Mr. Johansson. "I look forward to working closely with the dedicated team of educators, staff, and the school board members to continue fostering a supportive and innovative learning environment for all students."

In his previous roles, Mr. Johansson has been instrumental in driving curriculum development, enhancing educational technology, and implementing process improvements. His contributions to state-level instructional standards and model curriculum creation for Social Studies and Technology further underscore his commitment to advancing educational excellence.

"We are thrilled to have Andreas Johansson join our district," said the Newton Falls School Board President Mrs. Amie Crowder. "His extensive experience, coupled with his passion for education and student success, makes him the ideal leader to guide our schools into the future."

Mr. Johansson's leadership philosophy centers on collaboration, continuous improvement, and a deep commitment to student achievement. He has participated in numerous union negotiations, managed grievances, and successfully navigated legal challenges, always prioritizing fairness and professional growth.

"I am passionate about building collaborative environments that support both student success and staff development," added Mr. Johansson. "Together, we will work towards achieving our district's goals and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive."

Kindergarten Registration Reopened

Kindergarten registration for all children who will turn five years old by Thursday, August 1st, for the 2024- 2025 school year has been reopened. To begin the registration process, please visit the Newton Falls School website and click on the ENROLL button which is highlighted in yellow.

We are currently scheduling registration appointments and will conduct an additional Kindergarten screening event on Wednesday, August 7th.

Ohio Summer Food Service Program

The Summer Food Service Program meals have a new name, now called SUN meals! All children ages 1 through 18 are eligible to receive free meals during the summer months at participating program sites. Individuals ages 19 through 21 who have been identified as having mental or physical disabilities and are following Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) through their current enrollment in educational programs also are eligible for free summer meals.

Immunization Reminder to Parents/Guardians of Students entering 7th and 12th Grades

All students entering 7th grade this fall are required to have the following immunizations:

1 dose of Tdap
1 dose of Meningitis (MCV4)

All students entering 12th grade this fall are required to have the following immunizations:

1-2 doses of Meningitis (MCV4) with one dose given after age 16.

State law requires written verification of these immunizations no later than the 15th day of school. If your student does not have the required immunizations, please contact your healthcare provider to schedule an appointment. Please contact Mrs. Knoske, RN, the school nurse at 330­872­5121 ext. 1024 or knosker@nfschools.org if you need additional information.

In Case Of Emergency

In case of emergencies such as school closings, bus delays, or upcoming events, the district will use its computerized telephone notification system to inform parents. It is extremely important that parents verify their emergency telephone numbers with each building secretary. If you have changed telephone numbers or are now using only a cell phone contact to be reached, please update your information with the building secretary.
